Now, pride will likely prevent that from happening but the smart move for the Braves would be to move him. He's already reporting tendentious in his surgically repaired knee but him moving to 1B would drastically limit his wear and tear and allow him to help the team more. Now, I don't foresee Chipper moving but if the slim possibility happens Freddie Freeman, even though he was drafted as a 3B, will likely find himself in LF. Seriously, Chipper Jones is a future HOF player but it's going to come down to him attempting to play 3B and then getting hurt once again, not helping the Braves, and retiring or potentially moving to 1B, limiting his risk to injury, being productive, and squeezing out a few more productive years.
So you are thinking Chipper gets hurt, they move Prado to 3B, Freeman to LF and Chipper to 1B?
I don't think Chipper would make the move to 1B. I think he would retire.
The Braves liked Freeman enough to not make any run at LaRoche, etc. this off season. He is the starting 1B for them on opening day, playing in a strong lineup. I like him a great deal. Don't know ehteher he will be better than Smoak or not, but it will be fun to watch him play.

I don't think many people would argue with you. I think Hosmer has alot more upside/ power potential than Freeman and Smoak. I like Brandon Belt alot but its too early to say how he stacks up, he could very well be better than all 3 guys. He seems really polished.
The one thing going for Smaok, is his ability to take a walk. One of the things he did the most consistent through the minors, was walk almost as much as he struck out. Which should carry over to the major leagues. I like Smoak long term more than Freeman though Freeman might have the better year.

I'm less excited with his MiLB K and BB rates when combined with what is thought of as 20HR power. I see him as a solid MLB'er but not really fantasy relevant at 1B.
