PayPal as a way to collect league fees?

Postby clubhouseotter20 » Sat Jan 15, 2011 6:47 pm

Hi all,

I am creating a new money league this year, and have considered using www.leaguesafe.com to collect fees and distribute payouts. But before I do I'd like to know the pros and cons to using PayPal. For example, are there any fees for receiving money or sending money? Any restrictions? I've spent a lot of time on PayPal's help site but most of it is just legal gibberish to me. I'm just looking for a simple explanation in plain English, so any help from experienced users would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

you get to make a couple free transactions but after that if you aren't a premium member or whatever its called they charge you a small fee per transaction. We say if you are paying by paypal send $105 for a $100 league payment

Have your members send the amount on Paypal under "Personal" and "Gift". There will be no charge and you will get the full amount of what they send.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help. Any other "tricks" I should know regarding the use of PayPal and how to avoid their fees?

Bigmck is right. Send as "gift"- no fees. I might consider doing this as well.

And you would have proof that you paid.

Man, I never thought of this! Forced my football league to move over to PayPal for league fees and had the same intention with baseball, but everyone was getting mad that they had to pay more to cover the fees. This should help eliminate that problem B-)

Really good idea for those leagues where owners are not all located in the same place.

I also run all of my fantasy leagues' money through paypal. There aren't any fees for sending personal gifts.
