FAAB in Yahoo Leagues?

Postby MorseOverTaveras » Wed Jan 12, 2011 7:09 pm

Does the FAAB in Yahoo leagues include free agent pick ups too, or just waiver wire claims and call ups? Was looking to add this option to my league this year, but if Yahoo does not allow FAAB to expand free agent pick ups, then I really don't know a way for people to take it more seriously than just going all out at the trade deadline...

Seriously, no takers? I guess the answer is that Yahoo comes up short in this department.

I have never used Yahoo but ESPN has waivers or FAAB. You can set your league to use either. In a league I run on CBS, we use the FAAB for all pickups. Each Owner gets $500 to start the year. The players do not have salary assigned to them. The FAAB money is just a method to see who wins the player. When your money is gone, you can't pickup any more players. It makes for exciting play. We have a rule that you can't pickup players until they are on a MLB 25 man roster. When a rookie is called up, it makes for some good bidding.

Dont know if they have changes this year, but from the former system it would only be for waiver players. You could go around that by making waivers daily and no Free Agent period. In Yahoo leagues I have been in with FAAB that charge a FAAB dollar for each FA move those dollars had to be tabulated and deducted manually.

Yea, this is the exact system that I had in mind. What I like about using money for each FA you pick up is that you can start your bid at $0. But the intrigue of someone else also making the move makes you think twice and spend more than you have to. I guess we'll just have to see if Yahoo can up the ante this year.

Why don't you use ESPN. It is free and has the FAAB just like you want.

I am also hoping FAAB use can apply to all transactions as well. Adds another element.

In terms of switching leagues, I am thinking he is comforatble with the Yahoo, b ut hoping that this feature comes through to add to his experience..... Yahoo has FAAB. Seems to be a small matter to tweak.

Cross my fingers.
