Beltre to Rangers

Not official yet but apparantly pretty darn close.

The Texas Rangers and free-agent third baseman Adrian Beltre are close to completing terms on a multiyear deal, a source told ESPNdeportes.com on Sunday.

Not sure how long but somewhere around 5-6 years for about 90-96 million is what I have read.

In all seriousness, the Rangers finally got their hands on a big FA, and Beltre's a great reload for their lineup. What's the plan now with Michael Young? Trade or DH?

Enrique Rojas of ESPN Deportes heard from a source Sunday that the Rangers are nearing an agreement with free agent Adrian Beltre.
"They are still talking and have not completed the details, but an agreement appears imminent", the source told Rojas. Beltre has not drawn a long line of suitors because of his lofty asking price, but the Angels seem likely to make at least one final bid before the deal goes through with Texas. Beltre is thought to be seeking a contract worth around $85 million. This one is far from over.

Multiple reports suggested that the Rangers and Adrian Beltre were close to an agreement on a multiyear deal yesterday, but it turns out that "nothing is remotely imminent" between the team and the third baseman. Though MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan reported that the sides aren't nearing a deal, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram says there "appears to be some hope" about a potential agreement.

If somebody gives him $16M per season on a long-term deal they deserve what they get from him.

The deal is not done, but it would be worth $96MM over six years, according to MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan. The contract would include a clause that would allow the Rangers to opt out of the sixth year if Beltre doesn't reach a threshold for plate appearances.

Love the Webb signing, hate this one. Rangers should have went out and gotten another starting pitcher, like Marcum before he signed with the Brewers.
