As others have said, it's all about perception. Big Hurt was always huge, even as a rook...and Griffey didn't seem to put on extra muscle while his HR's were considered a byproduct of his sweet sweet swing. That's how they are perceived...right or wrong.
I didn't know Thome had managed to pull off the non-roider stigma...I must have missed that.
It's all just conjecture and subjectivity anyway...who can be sure who did or didn't do what?

Well... I guess that statement in isolation is scary. I meant to say that I refuse to presume innocence just because someone never tested positive or was never listed on a report... esp when their head grows a few sizes or they go from a 6 HR minor league career to massive slugger then to bizarre degenerative shoulder condition.
When it comes to exaggerating, I always give 110%.
