Help with my keepers please

Postby Mateo de Lorenzo » Thu Dec 30, 2010 7:48 am

Standard 5x5 roto keeper league. Am allowed to keep up to 7 keepers with 15 contract years max.

Here is my current player pool. Current Keepers are notated with an *. The number in the () is the round lost in the 2011 draft. For those kept beyond 2011, I lose a spot in the draft three rounds before this years loss.

Jayson Werth* (14) I have some concern about how he will perform in WA. Locked up through 2012.
Brett Anderson* (14)
Ubaldo Jimenez* (15)

So, I really have four spots remaining, although I may entertain a trade of Jayson Werth.

Freddie Freeman, 1B ATL (20)
Sean Rodriguez, 2B TB (20)
Jorge Cantu, 3B TX (6) May do well in TX
Mike Aviles, 2B KC (20)
Stephen Drew SS AZ (6)
Chris Coughlan LF FL (12) Could he bounce back?
Andre Ethier RF LA (1) Good but not worth a first rounder
John Jay LF STL (20)
Jose Tabata LF PIT (20)
Dexter Fowler OF COL (15)
Bryce Harper, OF WA (20) If kept, should be long term

Jeff Niemann, SP, TB (15)
Joe Nathan RP, MN (20) Lot depends on ST and how he comes back from TJ surgery
Josh Beckett SP BOS (4) Likely to bounce back. Not sure if he is worth the gamble at 4th round tho
Jamie Garcia, SP STL (20)
Travis Wood, SP CIN (20)
Jonathan Broxton, RP LA (3)
Jhoulys Chacin, SP COL (20)
Kenley Jansen, RP LA (20) Could replace Broxton early 2011.

All thoughts are welcome.

I think I would keep Tabata and Jamie Garcia. That puts you at 5 and I think that should be fine. I don't see anything that has good enough value for you to keep. I would rather go into the draft with extra draft picks.

As I went through your list this is pretty much what I concluded too, Although Freeman and Harper could be descent in long term. Save the picks.

Freddie Freeman, 1B ATL
Bryce Harper, OF WAS
Jamie Garcia, SP StL

I'd keep these 3 as your last.
