How to handle keepers moving up?

2010 was the first year we kept players, and we didn't have this issue going into this year but I feel it will come up in 2011.

What if you have 2 players in the same round that are being kept, how do you handle that. here is a situation that I could find myself in since I made a trade for Zimmerman and now have 2 players in round 6.

what if I wanted to keep by round:

1. empty
2. empty
3.Fielder
4. Kemp
5. Cruz
6. Ethier/Zimmerman

Where does that other player for round 6 go? to round 7?

Or:

1. empty
2. Fielder
3. Kemp/Cruz
4. Zimmerman
5. Ethier


or

1. empty
2. Fielder/Kemp
3. Cruz
4. Ethier
5. Zimmerman


It doesn't seem right to move 1 person's extra player down a round, but move another up a round.

I think your bottom choice will be the right way of doing it, pushing someone down a round gives too big of an advantage to keeping 2 guys in the same round. This will force guys to either drop 1 of the players from the same round, make a trade for 1 of them, or drop someone ahead of them. In your case dropping the lesser of the 2 (Ethier) would seem to be the way to go

thanks, I meant it as 3 different scenarios.

how would you handle each scenario?

in the first one, if those were the players being kept how would you handle the extra round 6 player. Or the extra round 3 player in example 2, or the extra round 2 player in example 3?

in each scenario...if 2 players in same round...1 of them must be kept up. if both in 6th...1 must be kept in 5th. if 5th is taken already...go to 4th. then to 3rd....so on. if all above are taken...tough nuggies..pick 1. not fair to go down

So the extra player in round 6 would be moved to the next available round? Or each player would be bumped up 1 round to make room for that extra player to be in round 5?

the added player would be moved up to the first open spot; in all 3 of the examples listed earlier it really wouldn't make sense to keep all the players listed.

Right, I wouldn't end up keeping all of those guys, especially having to take ethier in round 2. It was just the example I put out there.

Out of curiosity, who out of that group would you not keep? I also have Stanton in round 21 and liriano in round 16.

I could also trade fielder for Holliday(2) and Hanson(21).
