FWIW Crawford indicated in his presser this morning that he's willing to hit anywhere in the lineup. His preference to bat third is well known but I imagine $142 mil will make you more amenable to a move in the lineup.

Over 50% of his value the last 3 years has come from his defensive ability, not his offensive ability. He will play LF and the monster just fine at Fenway, but you will not see as many of the great catches that I have seen over the years with the wall and the limited foul territory.

Crawford will be worth every penny. It's a huge opportunity for him to further develop into the superstar that he is. You know this, I know this, we all do. Don't give me the "his legs will break down" nonsense. Crawford's work ethic and prep is legendary. From a fantasy prospective, power numbers going up and SBs going down is a good thing. And anyone who cites the "he hasn't drove in 100" arguement is also full of it. He hasn't driven in 100 yet huh? No kidding. He's been hitting at the top of a Devil Rays/Rays/Jellyfish line-up his whole career. He was moved to third in the order this year, and guess what? 90 RBIs. 110 Runs scored. I will happily take that total every year, thankyouverymuch. In fact, that would mean boston pays 100,000 for every run he scores. ;-D
For the life of me though, I can't understand the Werth contract. Why would Washington blow their load like this, when if you chill out a year you could go after Pujols or Fielder? I understand they are ready to compete now, but yuk. IMO, he's more of a complimentary player, not a primary player.

Agreed on the Werth contract. And I'd even say that the Nats are not in a position to compete now for at least a full year, what with Stras still coming back from TJ.
