According to Buster Olney of ESPN.com, Troy Tulowitzki will make $163 million guaranteed over the next 10 years. Tulowitzki is a fantastic player, but this contract looks more unnecessary by the minute. Picking up from the remainder of his current deal, he will receive $16 million in 2014 and $20 million per season from 2015-2019. He'll make a base salary of $14 million in 2020 with an additional $6 million in escalators. The contract also includes a $14 million team option -- and $6 million in escalators -- for 2021 or a $4 million buyout. Let's hope this doesn't become an albatross for the franchise in the long-term. Nov. 30 - 1:51 pm et
Just imagine what the Yankees would have offered if he hit free agency. They are offering Jeter a 3 year deal and Tulo would have been a FA in 3 years. Easily would have matched that contract.
