Each player you keep costs a round in the draft (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th -- not the round you drafted the player in). When I look at my roster, I think there are a lot of guys that would go in a redraft league in the 1st or 2nd round anyway, so it makes sense to get a 1st or 2nd round player in the 4th round.
This is a 6x6 Yahoo! rotisserie league (standard 5x5 categories plus OPS and Holds)
Anyway, here's my roster:
Hitters:
Buster Posey (C) Billy Butler (1B) Mark Reynolds (1B/3B) Robinson Canó (2B) José Reyes (SS) Aramis Ramírez (3B) José Bautista (will he still qualify at 3B/OF)? Ryan Braun (OF) Josh Hamilton (OF) Andrew McCutchen (OF)
Pitchers:
Cole Hamels (SP) Josh Johnson (SP) Tim Lincecum (SP) Ricky Nolasco (SP) Wandy Rodríguez (SP) Max Scherzer (SP) John Axford (RP) Joaquín Benoit (RP) Francisco Cordero (RP) Carlos Mármol (RP)
Since the commish decided it'd be a great idea to counts OPS, it means the sluggers are more valuable than the speedy guys (an argument can be had for this logic in 5x5 also), and the Holds category is a joke. I don't draft any Holds guys, I just pick them up as they emerge.
These are 6 guys I'd really like to keep, but can only keep 4:
Robinson Canó Josh Hamilton José Bautista Ryan Braun Tim Lincecum Josh Johnson
I'm worried about injuries with half of these guys, and Bautista has the potential to be a one-year wonder. Does Buster Posey or Jose Reyes belong in the discussion?
Any and all advice here is welcome.
Looking forward to back to back championships in 2011!
Well, if I'm advising you, I'd say Cano, Braun, Lincecum, Hamilton. Hamilton is a health risk, but he can also put up MVP numbers.
But if it's me, I'd keep Cano, Braun, Lincecum, and Posey. Can't help myself. In a 9 team league, would Posey go in the first 4 rounds? Probably not. But if he's already on my roster, it's a keeper league, and I have the ability to lock him up? I just don't think I could physically bring myself to drop him.

Thats a real good 4 for you. Thanks for helping with mine
