Trade for Jimmy Rollins?

Postby speedman » Sun Nov 21, 2010 3:28 am

I have a trade offer of Jimmy Rollins for Lowrie and Chris Sale.

I would be getting Rollins. Its a dynasty points league where OBP is important and no salaries.

I am concerned with Rollins major drop off offensively in 2009 and 2010 and his health.

We are pre-draft post keepers. This is a BL. I am in a go for it mode this year, What do you guys think?

I wouldn't count on Rollins improving your OBP much since his career average is below .330, but still I'd make this deal for a run at 2011.

If you are ready to win now, then I would probably do this trade. I don't feel you are giving up all that much. Maybe Sale starts next season in the rotation and really dominates but I think the likely hood of that happening is kind of slim. He might be a decent mid-rotation guy. On the other hand Rollins, who is very much in decline, could have another season in or so in him and the price isn't that much. If it works, then great and if not you didn't give up that much to begin with.

The only other option is trying to get a top tier SS but that will cost you a lot more.

So going with Lowrie at SS too much of a risk? Playing time etc..?

I'd take Rollins here. Seems like quite a bargain, even if Rollins is past his peak.
