Big Trade Latos Bautista WHIR

Postby williscubs » Thu Nov 18, 2010 7:22 pm

I'm in a 16-team h2h 6x6 league (k/9 and OPS as additional stats to the standard 5x5 and SVHLD instead of SV) with 20 keepers. Right now I'm having a really hard time getting my team down to the keeper limit. Here's my roster with guys I'm hoping to keep marked (K):

C. Brian McCann (K) 1B. Prince Fielder (K) 2B. Ian Kinsler (K) 3B. David Wright (K) SS. Jose Reyes (K) OF. Carlos Gonzalez (K) OF. Justin Upton (K) OF. Nelson Cruz (K) UTIL. Kendry Morales (K) UTIL. Elvis Andrus (K) UTIL. BJ Upton (K)

SP. Jon Lester (K) SP. Brett Anderson (K) SP. Brandon Morrow (K) SP.Chad Billingsley (K) SP. Jenrry Mejia (K) RP. Jonathan Broxton (K) RP. Jose Valverde (K)

Which leaves me: Jose Bautista, Pablos Sandoval, Ricky Nolasco, Wandy Rodriguez, Carlos Beltran, Fausto Carmona, Tommy Hunter, Matt Thornton, JJ Putz, Brandon League, Jonny Venters, and Scott Kazmir as potential tradables with 2 keeper spots open.

Should I offer Bautista, Nolasco, Wandy, and Beltran for Latos and Hellickson?

Can't see why you wouldn't just ask him which of those players it would take, no reason to let him improve his roster by 4 guys if it only takes 2.

First off I would rather have Bautista over Mejia. Maybe Mejia closes but his numbers were far from good last year and the Mets seem to like guys who have shown an ability to close games int he past. I also would stay away from Latos. He had a major inning spike this past season and had a pretty bad last month or so. Maybe he was just tired after all the innings but it has been shown that pitchers with big inning spikes have a higher chance of following it up with a disappointing season. I do like you getting Hellickson or trying to improve your last one or two keepers spots.

Thanks for the help guys. Unfortunately I pretty sure he won't except just two of those guys for Latos and Hellickson and that wouldn't help my keeper problem. Also, the only reason I'm keeping Mejia right now is I don't think I can get a good return for him while I can for Bautista and the others.
