Uggla to Braves

Jerry Crasnick on Twitter:
Braves deal is complete. It's Dan Uggla to Atlanta for Omar Infante and Mike Dunn.

Florida's GM doesn't seem to have much of an idea what he's doing. There's no way he wasn't offered a package better than a utility infielder and a reliever.

Yeah, this is crazy. Great fit for the Braves though.

The Marlins acquired 4 RPs the last week. I get the Miller trade in which they needed to move him and Richardson wasn't too bad a return. But the Maybin trade was awful for them and now this. On top of that they want to give John Buck a three year deal. Go figure.

They'll also get two picks next year if they don't sign him to an extension as he'll be a Type A.

This deal makes no sense for the Marlins on so many levels.

[mod edit]

I think the Braves definitely came out on top of this one. Infante was a great sell-high guy

If I were a GM, I'd be calling about Josh Johnson right now.

As a fellow Jays fan, I think we're just mad that we didn't get Uggla. He's a horrible fielding 2B, but probably would have been passable at 3B. But yeah... surprising that the Marlins coudln't get more.

I think it is more that the marlins don't want to have to pay anything, i wouldn't be surprised if they had the Braves throw in some cash for Infante. Also, I think this deal might say something about the confidence, or lack there of, the Braves have in Chipper.

#BlueJays had most early interest in Uggla. Jays' offer: RHP J. Roenicke, RHP D. Farquhar and either SS R. Goins or OF D. Mastroianni

I guess the Marlins went with major league mediocrity over minor league potential. Judging by the Buck contract, they may fancy themselves as contenders still.
