Dynasty League Prospect Draft Results

These are the prospect selections from our recent Dynasty Draft. All prospects had to play in A, AA or AAA in order to be considered. Which teams have the best prospect systems? Worst? Safest? Most potential? Etc.

Team F: J. Taillon (Pit), C. Withrow (LAD), Z. Britton (Bal)
Team G: M. Pineda (Sea), D. Gordon (LAD), J. Lyles (Hou)
Team H: A. Hicks (Min), N. Franklin (Sea), D. Betances (NYY)
Team I: E. Hosmer (KC), J. Lamb (KC), N. Weglarz (Cle)
Team J: L. Chisenhall (Cle), T. Beckham (TB), M. Moustakas (KC)
Team K: J. Turner (Det), K. Vitek (Bos), G. Green (Oak)
Team L: M. Banuelos (NYY), G. Sanchez (NYY), M. Choice (Oak)

PS: This isn't the draft order as Hosmer, Green, Weglarz, Beltre, Vitters, Lawrie, & Mous were holdovers from last year.

Most of these teams have a flaw with the exception of team B. Machado offers big upside, Belt is safe with solid upside, and Morre has already destroyed High A and has big upside as well.

Team B strike me as both the safest and best. As far as the worst I suppose I'd lean with team E even though S.Miller looks great I think there are big questions with Flores (position down the road?/low level of play without dominating even though he is young) and Wheeler has had control issues.

Most of the other teams are solid and it more or less depends on which prospect you value more than another.

I rank them:

1. B = Machado and Moore have great potential, and Belt should help this year
2. D = Pitchers with big upside, all three can be #3 or better
3. G = Safe solid picks

I think Team J has the biggest potential by far IMO, but Moustakas is the only one that is probably going to have any fantasy relevance in 2011. Chissenhall is a power 3b with potential, Beckham is still very raw and at least 1-2 years away from fantasy hype, and obviously moustakas showed his potential last year but the Royals have not had success on big prospects in awhile so he will have to break the curve.

Then I would rank:
Team B-but again, machado/moore still not close to the majors
Team G-probably the best team for 2011, Pineda and Lyles will be in the majors barring injury, and Dee Gordon might see some sept. time

In all of the teams I would get excited looking at 2 names and then say oh, I'm not a fan of #3 (not always the 3rd listed). Except D. Teheren and Montgomery might have some question's but I like all 3 of these prospects.

I was really excited about team A until I saw Engel Beltre.

Yes and no. There are prospects like Ackley and Montero already rostered on teams but no MiLB player below A-ball can be selected. So, prospects like Harper and Sano weren't eligible to be drafted.

B is probably the best. I like A. Beltre might not be a great pick but the other two can be all-star caliber players. D is also good with 3 very solid SP. Worst would probably be L or E.

Hicks didn't have a great 2010 but he's sure to figure it out - great athlete
Franklin will be on the fast track-sea SS's stink
Betance will be great -problem is you never know for what team
yanks will trade him for proven starter at some point

I felt the same way but I think I like B best.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned I. You have a hitter and a pitcher who should at the very least be in the top 10 discussion. Weglarz is close to the majors and has interesting potential with his power and on-base skills.

A is the other team that stood out and I'm not even as high on Simon Castro as most.
