Not sure why you wouldn't like this deal. Bullpen arms are up and down year to year so just because they were solid this year doesn't mean they will have the same success next year. Plus SD has a lot of arms. Maybin is far from a good player right now but he is still very young and has a lot of upside. As a Royals fan, I was disappointed that they couldn't beat the Padres in this kind of deal. I would love to have the potential of Maybin. It might not work out but it is better than running guys like Jarrod Dyson out there.

I think its a really good deal for both squads. The Padres trade a couple of scrap bullpen arms for a guy who has the potential to be a great lead-off hitter. Meanwhile Florida adds a couple of bullpen guys they desperately need and open a spot in the lineup for Bonifacio.
