A UNIVERSITY lecturer accused of gunning down her husband claims he killed himself after she found a shocking child porn stash.

Me and my roommate are in one of her classes this semester. We showed up to class on Monday and she never showed up, so we left after 10 minutes. Tuesday we got an email saying she wouldn't be teaching the class for the "next several weeks" and that they were trying to find a substitute. Then we found out she had been arrested for shooting her husband over the weekend, and today all of the details about what started the disturbance, and her side of the story came out. It's been a pretty interesting week.

She was a great teacher. Always kept class interesting and joked around a lot. She was very accommodating to students who needed help and offered a lot of good advice. I knew there had to be more to the story than her just shooting someone. Her story of how everything started makes sense, but like Rock I don't buy that her husband shot himself in the chest (let alone call for help after). That just makes no sense unless you want to experience a whole lot of pain before you die. The only way I can see that being the case is if they were struggling over the gun and the trigger got pulled in the scuffle.

I actually do buy her story about the husband (assuming that he would be physically able to call for help from where he shot himself). I've read that those who try to comitt suicide often regret it the second that they actually perform the act (for instance, the rare person who actually lives after jumping off a bridge feels terrible about it the second they jump). It's the type of thing where people don't realize what committing suicide actually is, until they have actually done it and are likely to "succeed".

She probably shot him. The child porn story isn't something you just make up, since it's pretty easy to grab his computer and check it out.

My guess? She found the child porn and shot him in a fit of rage. Something like that, it's going to hit you like a ton of bricks. Say she expected to find out he's having an affair, or he has a stash of non-psycho porn, but then she finds kiddie porn. Imagine how shocking that would be.

And you have no idea what their relationship was like behind closed doors. She may have been abused, neglected, whatever, and that's going to affect her state of mind and reaction.
