Do we even know that's what the book says? The guy contends that not one action in the book is illegal, and while there are areas where I don't doubt he pushed the limit, I'm sure he knows that 'slipping things into a little boy butt' is illegal.

I'm with Madison on this, but am I going to get in trouble for buying/reading the book?

The author said he had no copies of the book left and that he sent the police his personal copy.

To clarify...

The author of "The Pedophile's Guide," listed as Philip R. Greaves II, argues that pedophiles are misunderstood, as the word literally means to love a child. The author adds that it is only a crime to act on sexual impulses toward children, and offers advice that purportedly allows pedophiles to abide by the law.

"This is my attempt to make pedophile situations safer for those juveniles that find themselves involved in them, by establishing certian rules for these adults to follow," says a description of the book on Amazon. "I hope to achieve this by appealing to the better nature of pedosexuals, with hope that their doing so will result in less hatred and perhaps liter (sic) sentences should they ever be caught."
...
Greaves said he had only sold one book and insisted it doesn't advocate for adults to harm children.

"The best advice I can give a pedophile is, accept that masturbation is your best friend," Greaves told The Smoking Gun.

This is probably what has people up in arms:

The book, "The Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure: a Child-lover's Code of Conduct," includes first-person descriptions of such encounters, purportedly written from a child's point of view.

Ok, so the only copy sold was the one the cops bought. I was wondering if they could somehow get the records of who bought the books.

the guy has obvious creditability issues.

I have no plans to read the book, so we may never know. But in this case, i'm siding with law enforcement. He'll get a fair trial. He had to go through a judge to get extradited, so more than one legal mind has already read the book .. The perv had to know something like this could happen when he sat down and penned a book for sale called, "The Pedophile's Guide to Love & Pleasure".

I'm trusting them in this case.

I have no doubt he'll get a trial and be found guilty.
I also have no doubt that the appeals process will overturn the Florida law.

The legal process holds poor laws accountable if they overstep the Constitution. ;-D

the DA says this law has been tested and it held up before ..
According to arrest affidavits, his book describes two separate stories with graphic sex scenes between men and boys, ages 9 and 13.

"The guy is clearly trying to instruct people how to sexually abuse children," Judd said after Greaves was led inside the jail. "A step-by-step instruction guide with real-life examples? That's against the obscenity law in Florida and we're excited to take it to court."

"We're not talking about his editorial comment in the book," Judd said. "We're talking about the deviant conduct against a child that is clearly against our obscenity law."

Florida's obscenity law has been upheld before, Judd said, and he expects it will be again. "We look forward to going to court, and quite frankly, who - what normal person doesn't think we should arrest people that are trying to educate and teach others how to attack our children sexually?" Judd said.

"He wrote this book, he published this book, he put it on Amazon to sell and he freely responded to our desire to purchase it," Judd said. "That is a commercial enterprise. He delivered the book. It's certainly not entrapment."
