Keep Ellsbury or Strasburg?

Postby ImStupid » Mon Oct 18, 2010 10:36 am

C - Wieters
1B - Pujols
2B - Utley
3B - Zimmerman

SS - Castro
LF - Lind
CF - Kemp
RF - J Upton

UTIL - Aramis
UTIL - C Lee

Bench - Ellsbury, Jennings

P - Haren, Kershaw, Latos, Strasburg, Bumgarner, Chapman

12 teams, standard 5x5, 10 keepers (no limits or restrictions on keepers).

The 9 bolded guys are the ones I'm pretty damned sure about. I was all set to keep Strasburg, but when he got hurt I found Ellsbury laying around on the WW, and now Ellsbury kinda seems like the better choice. He would fill out my LF/CF/RF group rather nicely, and a couple broken ribs shouldn't ruin his SB production.

I'll have the 4th pick in each round of the next draft, if that matters very much.

yea obviously ellsbury. you already got 3 pitchers with good future ahead, so you don't need strasburg who is out for the coming season.

If you had multiple DL spots and weak keeper choices I could see maybe wanting to hold Strasburg for a year. But if its Ellsbury or Stras you definetely want to go with the speedster, who was a 2nd or 3rd round pick this year. He should be fine for the future and a long term keeper for you. Kinda suprised someone didn't hold on to him in a league where you bring back 120...

Ellsbury is a magnet for injuries. I guess I would go with him. Wieters is a nice risk/reward keeper. Though, you would not be faulted for throwing him out in place of Desmond Jennings or MadBum, but you don't need an OF if your keeping Ells.

Given your young SP strength, I would go with Ellsbury.

At least you'll be right for 2011 :-)
