Keeper League, up to 12 Keepers WHIR!

Postby sman » Wed Oct 13, 2010 8:22 pm

I am in a head to head ten team keeper league on Yahoo! which uses these stats R, H, 3B, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, OBP, W, CG, SHO, SV, K, ERA, WHIP, K/BB.

My Roster:

C Miguel Montero
1B David Ortiz
2B Ian Kinsler
3B Mark Reynolds
SS Jose Reyes
OF Shin Soo Choo
OF Carlos Gonzalez
OF Ichiro Suzuki
Util Luke Scott
BN Juan Uribe
BN Ian Desmond
DL Justin Morneau

SP Roy Halladay
SP Johan Santana
RP Brian Wilson
RP Rafael Soriano
P Francisco Liriano
P Jonathan Sanchez
P Chad Billingsley
BN Jaime Garcia
BN Gio Gonzalez
BN Edinson Volquez

I had a fantastic year, winning the first place spot in my league after being in it for three years now. Anyway, I was hoping to get some input as to which twelve players I should keep. We are allowed to keep less, which gives us picks in whatever round begins after our number of keepers. So if I kept 10, my first pick would be in the 11th round essentially rather than if I keep 12 and start in the 13th round.

I'm pretty much set on a few of the players but had some doubts about others. Should I keep Johan knowing he'll be out for the first half of the year? Should I keep other starters instead, maybe Gio Gonzalez? Are both closers worth keeping considering they'd essentially be my 11th and 12th round picks. My keepers so far are below:

1B Justin Morneau
2B Ian Kinsler
SS Jose Reyes
3B Mark Reynolds
OF Carlos Gonzalez
OF Ichiro Suzuki
OF Shin-Soo Choo

SP Roy Halladay
SP Jonathan Sanchez
SP Francisco Liriano

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give, it is much appreciated. Leave a link and I will get back to you as soon as I can!

certainly pass on Johan. You could keep 1 closer and redraft similiar if there wasn't better option available

1B David Ortiz
2B Ian Kinsler
3B Mark Reynolds
SS Jose Reyes
OF Shin Soo Choo
OF Carlos Gonzalez
OF Ichiro Suzuki
DL Justin Morneau
SP Roy Halladay
SP Jonathan Sanchez (only thing that worries me is his high walk total, but that is offset with a season of 200 Ks)
SP Francisco Liriano
RP Rafael Soriano
The rest of these are no brainers.
Good luck ;-D

wow! that's a solid team of keepers. From the first glance at your team, the ones you have down are the sure picks. Chad Billingsley is the next one I would have kept in place of Soriano, but I like what you have going.

I'd definitely keep the full 12. If you have the best team your 12th guy is likely as good as who you'd draft around there. Here's who I'd keep:

1B Justin Morneau
2B Ian Kinsler
3B Mark Reynolds
SS Jose Reyes
OF Shin Soo Choo
OF Carlos Gonzalez
OF Ichiro Suzuki
SP Roy Halladay
SP Jonathan Sanchez
SP Chad Billingsly
SP Francisco Liriano
RP Rafael Soriano

Keep Billingsley for sure. Good value there.
