The average was very disappointing, and his frequent benching had to be annoying, but it's hard to say 28 bombs was a down year. Especially compared to other injury-related busts in this thread.

for me personally it was Ellsbury, Borbon and Beckham, especially since I was really high on Ellsbury clinching me steals. Jason Bay was pretty abysmal, most expected him to be bad but 6 dingers in 350 at bats?

Berkman was bad too, and Brandon Webb ended up being a waste of a pick (thought i'd get 10 or so good starts out of him). Borbon and Beckham didn't have the years I thought they would.

the funny thing is despite the kemp shaft, he's the lone leader atop the games played list at 162 (NL) and tied only with ichiro for all of baseball...

5 Bombs 8 rbis came the last 5 days.

.249 23 bombs 80 rbis going into the championship week is a epic bust for 6th overall.

Gordon Beckham is runaway winner of this award.

Pre-season: High hopes because that 2009 2nd half was quite tasty, especially for a rookie.
April: suckful, but you hang onto him because anyone can have a bad month.
May: 82 at-bats, 0 extra-base hits. .417 OPS.
June: dropped. Someone else picks him up, you shrug. More suckitude.
July: .354/.376/.573
August: .309/.400/.531



If someone is the level of uselessness that Beckham was at the end of June, you'd have to have massive benches to hang on to him "just in case"

BJ Upton and Curtis Granderson. I put up with their trash all year long, gave up and dumped both, then they go bananas right after of course.

I definitely feel high draft picks who sucked hard forever then finally turned it on when everyone had dumped them is a real jerk type player. We gotta distinguish this from the busts somehow.
