I like to do this too in my league that has FAAB where the free agent's salary is assigned the FAAB selling price. Unfortunately our deadline was last Sunday and there was slim pickings. Can be a fun way to pick up buck prospects.

Maybe look at The Closers Thread and pay attention to who is getting chances now. Like that Jensen guy in LA. Or if someone cut Leo Nunez he could be closing again next year especially if Hensley joins the rotation.

I plan on cutting Denorfia and thome for guys that ranked near the top of their rookie league prospect lists at BA. My situation might be different though since I'm in a deep 24 tm dyansty league.

It depends on the settings of your league and how deep the rosters are, but I will throw out a few names.

Jordan Walden - May close for the Angels next season
Hank Conger - Former 1st rnd pick, may get a chance to start next season
Ben Revere - Speed
Danny Espinosa - Possible 15/15 next season
Freddie Freeman - Should be given chance to start, could hit .270 25HR
Mike Minor - Showed some great K potential, still needs work
Justin Smoak - has fallen off the radar in some circles, but there is some talent here

Freeman, minor and Smoak are my picks out of the that list. Jesus Montero is a favorite prospect of mine and could be up next season.

Revere will spend one more season in the minors since the Twins have a full OF but he could be an interesting pick the following season. Walden is also interesting although I think he's a couple of seasons away from closing. Although who knows what can happen with bullpens.

Totally depends on league settings and keeper rules. I don't have to decide on my keepers until February, although our off-season roster (i.e., keeper-eligible players) is set Sept. 1st. At this point I'm considering keeping Hellickson (cost: 20th round pick) over Josh Johnson (7th round pick).

Carlos Carrasco - I think the Carrasco we've seen over the last month is the real thing
Henry Rodriguez - IMO the best relief prospect in the game
Justin Masterson - Like Carrasco, could be a big-time player for the Indians in the future
Jeremy Jeffress - Will push Axford for the closer spot and Jeffess is the more talented of the two
Ruben Tejada - Will the starting 2B next year and could produce in a thin postion

Lucas Duda.
He's blocked at the moment (Bay/Pagan/Beltran), but he's had a break out year in the minors (nearly .300 ISO at AAA ). He'll be a starter somewhere next year.
Worth a shot if he's costing you nothing.
