Maybe I'm in the minority this year, and of course we'll have to see where is MDP is falling, but I don't think you could pay me to draft A-Rod this year... Newest report is that he 'went to Germany to have his own blood drawn from his arm, separated in a centrifuge, and then re-injected into his knee and ankle'. I don't care if Kobe did it too. This reeks of desperation from an ailing player who presumably can't run anymore and is no longer the elite stick people want him to be. Wouldn't shock me to see an injury riddled 20 HR season where he doesn't swipe a single base. No thanks.

Not to pile on here but he's guaranteed more than the $143M. I get that the Yankees basically print money but he's stilled owed an additional $5M in signing bonus (1M in 2012 and 2013, and 3M in 2014).

Oh BTW there is still the small issue of up to $30M in incentives on the table. That additional $30M looked to be a slam dunk when A-Roid signed the mega deal. Now I'd guess the Yankees would rather he fall short and spend it elsewhere. The taint of Alex using steriods eliminates much of the anticipated luster of him potentially becoming the alltime HR leader.

In any case it's still nearly certain he'll get the 32HR needed to pass Mays and earn an additional $6M, so $154M/6.
The 86HR he'd need to pass Ruth (and earn another $6M) are about a 50/50 proposition, if so $160M/6.
If "his cousin" becomes a regular visitor he might still find a way to earn another $18M for passing Aaron (127HR), and tying(133HR) and passing (134HR) Bonds. I realize it's now unlikely but it could still be as much as $178M/6

It will be interesting to monitor ARod's draft position this offseason. I have him in a dynasty and won't part with him because his value seems pretty low (especially in dynasty). But I personally wouldn't be surprised if he comes back with a great season at some point. he's been injured and that's part of the reason his production is down. I won't be investing a lot in him (in a redraft) though.
