Maximum Games Tally

I'm in a keeper roto yahoo league and really the 1st close encounter to the maximum games tally at the bottom left of the page. Even after reading the little explanation many many many times during the course of the season, I've now found I have reach my max games for the UTL position and will no longer accrue stats there. Can anyone give me an explanation as to how the maximum games is kept, how it is in relation to the daily lineup that you set, what makes it go and down, and what sorts of way to limit it when you find yourself in the red (down some games.) Thank you.
