Keeper question WHIR

Postby mister_jay_peg » Sun Sep 26, 2010 10:29 pm

I'm in a 12 team league, probably going to finish either 7/8/9, so by our draft standards, I'll either be the 2nd/3rd/4th pick next year.

I have 14 players I *could* keep, barring trade, although I will be making a pursuit of CarGo and/or Miggy in the offseason (the guy who has both took over an otherwise HORRID squad, and a 3 low-keeper for either has been in talks for a few weeks)

Anyway, if the trades fall through, and I am stuck with who I have now, who are my 4 drops? I know some are no-brainer keepers, but the lower end is kind of iffy. Here is *my* rank of the 14...

Justin Verlander, Det
Brandon Phillips, Cin
Jered Weaver, LAA
Adam Dunn, Wash
Michael Young, Tex
Rafael Soriano, TB RP
Torii Hunter, LAA
Mike Stanton, Fla
Carlos Santana, Cle
Vladimir Guerrero, Tex
-------
Curtis Granderson, NYY
Brett Gardner, NYY
Ted Lilly, LAD
Austin Jackson, Det

Thoughts? And thanks ahead!

I would rather have Granderson and A.Jackson than Soriano and Guerrero. The reason is that Soriano has an injury history and there is no guarantee that he will be back in TB and closers are expendable. For Guerrero while he had a good year, he is still old and A.Jackson could be good for a while to come

I would keep Granderson over Hunter personally. But I would be more aggressive about the trade as well. Go 5 to 1 if you need. Jackson/Lilly/Vlad/Hunter/Gardner for Miggy or CarGo. You make out huge - either immediately becomes the best player on your team and your 10 would look like:
Cabrera or CarGo
Justin Verlander, Det
Brandon Phillips, Cin
Jered Weaver, LAA
Adam Dunn, Wash
Michael Young, Tex
Rafael Soriano, TB RP
Mike Stanton, Fla
Carlos Santana, Cle
Curtis Granderson, NYY
