Colvin's Injury and Maple Bats

Postby StlSluggers » Mon Sep 20, 2010 3:04 pm

With Colvin going out after getting stabbed in the chest by a maple bat chunk, will the debate over maple bats be elevated to a new level?

I would hope so! Having a tube stuck into your lung so it doesn't collapse is serious business.

This is one of those discussions that needs to be figured out soon by baseball before a real tragedy occurs.

I feel like Bud Selig is really good at ignoring baseball's problems (steroids, etc.) until he absolutely has to do something. Hopefully this will convince him that he has to do something about the bats.

That would have been a fantastic advertisement for maple bats, and would have sold many millions of them. I would have bought one myself if it had actually taken him out. ;-D
