PLAYER AVG G AB R H TB 2B 3B HR RBI
M Matheny .400 17 35 1 14 20 3 0 1 7
anyone think that these stats might continue (to a reasonably extent, he ain't gonna hith .400)?
i read somewhere (yahooo?) that he installed a batting cage at his house... is it possible that would improve his hitting so much?

I doubt he'll improve significantly, he'll always be a purely defensive catcher.

he installed a batting cage but thats not the half of it. pujols lives reasonably close by so he and matheny sometimes worked out in the cage together. matheny worked hard both last offseason and this one and should be improved offensively. he might even get off to a good start like last year but due to the amount of innings he will catch he will wear down by the end of the season. for matheny, improvement will be measured by going from terrible offensively to just average. in other words, he still will not be an option in mixed leagues.
