We are allotted four keepers, and I'm struggling with the final keeper. Tulo, Miggy, and J-Up are no-brainers IMO. The final slot is where it gets iffy. It's a 14 team 6X6 Roto with holds and OPS. Here's my team....help me out please? WHIR. The people in bold are potential keepers.
C- Rod Barajas 1B- Miguel Cabrera 2B- Ian Kinsler 3B- Jose Bautista SS- Troy Tulowitski OF- Justin Upton OF- Curtis Granderson OF- Bret Gardener Util- Corey Hart
Bench: Carlos Quentin (I just feel like he's going to have a monster year next year.
SP- Cole Hamels SP- Roy Oswalt RP- Rafael Soriano RP- Chris Perez P- David Aaradsma P- Daniel Bard P- Mike Adams
Bench: Wandy Rodriguez, Ted Lilly, Edwin Jackson, Phil Hughes
As pissed off as I am at Upton (spent a 2nd round pick on him in 2 leagues and just dropped him last week in both), he has to be your 3rd.
14-team league would cause me to lean a bit more towards hitting because of the depth of the league and the depth of quality starting pitching that has emerged this year. Hamels is the only pitcher you have that I would consider keeping, but I still would go hitting first. Ideally you could package a couple players for a stud bat (Cano comes to mind) but if not here are my rankings:
I believe I would also go with Jose. For these reasons:
Kinsler is a top 2B option when healthy, obviously, but thats not much of the time as he has proven. So pass. Jose carries more value then Quentin based on starting positions, so pass. Oswalt I wouldn't, because I would simply take his much younger teammate over him, so pass.
So Hamels or Bautista? I like carrying bats into the next years draft because SP sleepers are always out there, so I would go with Jose.
Oswalt and Hamels are good, but I can't see them being kept over the rest of your guys, If I had to choose a pitcher I'd say Oswalt, he's not as up-and-down as Cole is. I don't see Bautista, having that great of a year this one, Quentin is eh, he has one good year as well, he's an average OF. Regardless of Kinsler's injury history, I still think he would be picked in the top 4 rounds of next year more so in a 14 team league. Unless you know you can get a better 2B you gotta go with Kinsler. Don't sleep on him because of injuries. Good Luck.
I guess there was no curse... Boston just sucked for 86 years...
