I think the only option you have is to adopt 12 or 15 dogs, scientific tests have proved that they'll keep each other company.

yeah..i was a little drunk when i originally wrote this....i have loled at myself as well
that meant that my wife's dad thinks that the dog hates us bc we leave him at home by himself furing the day..so he tears stuff up out of spite

doesn't sound like the dog is obedient enough to get a j.o.b...

I just saw a commercial for Doggy Day Care and thought about this. I don't have any idea what this stuff costs, but what about taking the pup to a local play-date place so he can interact with some other dogs while you're gone for the day?

yeah good idea. we have put him up at a place that babysits dogs over weekends before when we went out of town and couldnt find anybody to watch him. it was only $25 a night....so not too bad. i cant imagine things like this would be more..probably much less

Some ideas as I'm having "barking" issues with my dog at the moment.
1. Leave him with a kong ball filled with frozen treats / peanut butter. It'll distract him during the day
2. Exercise the hell out of him. A tired dog is a happy quiet dog.
3. take him to obedience class
4. Talk to a vet they know more then I do
I'm too lazy to make a sig at the moment

alrighty....2 year update(yes im bored at work)
i was just commenting yesterday to my wife that the dog hasnt pooped or peed in the house in a long time. he is a little over 2 now, so i guess he has grown up...or i have grown up, or we have grown up together
he stays inside during the day bc my wife thinks he will escape somehow if left in the back yard all day. i say hogwash, but whatever. i go home during lunch and let him out for about half an hour, then back in the house. we dont even use the cage anymore. he just chills inside doing whetever he does until i get home from work, then we play or walk outside for him to do his business.
all is good. im sure he will come on here soon to praise me in return for being so awesome
