Lilly, Cahill, Lewis: Who to start? WHIR

Postby misterf » Sat Sep 04, 2010 1:58 am

10 team, 5x5 roto league w/ daily line-up changes.

I am currently on pace to go about 60 innings over the max for pitching, so i need to start rationing my SP's. Tomorrow (9/4) I have three SP'a scheduled to start. Please help me decide who to start and which ones (if any) to bench.

Tedd Lilly (vs. SF): Solid since joining L.A. (4 of last 5 starts have been quality starts), but he is facing Matt Cain

Colby Lewis (@ Minn): Had been pitching well, but last start was ugly....and only 1 QS in last 3 outtings

Trevor Cahill (vs. Ana): Had been pitching great (7 of last 8 games QS's) but his last game (vs. NYY) was a disaster

Right now, ERA and WHIP are much more important for me than wins and k's, if that makes a difference.

Thank you in advance for your help. Of course, WHIR

Lilly and Cahill I would start and leave Lewis on the bench in the interest of rationing innings.

If ERA/WHIP are what you're looking for, then Lilly has been great for that since being with the Dodgers...and the opposing pitcher won't hurt the ratios. Those are the innings you want to use.

And Cahill has been fantastic while the Angels have been disappointing. Don't hold a start against the Yankees against anyone, you also want to be using these innings.

Innings are a precious resource in roto, but you want to use what innings you have left in the best available places.
