Which 2-start pitcher for next week?

Postby hotcorner13 » Fri Aug 27, 2010 3:58 pm

I'm in a CBS H2H Points league and am leading my division my 3 games. But
5 weeks ago it was a 7 game lead, so I'm getting a little nervous. It
seems like I'm always going up against someone who has more starts for the
week, so I'm looking at a couple extra 2-start pitchers this week. I
already picked up Kuroda (PHL, SF) and Duensing (DET, TEX), so right now my
starters are:

SP1 - Sabathia (1)
SP2 - Lester (1)
SP3 - W Rodriguez (1)
SP4 - Kuroda
SP5 - Duensing
RP1 - Bell
RP2 - Valverde

Bench - Floyd, Liriano, Morrow, Strasburg

Unfortunately that still only gives me 7 starts, so I'm thinking of adding
at least another one, since Duensing can go into my RP slot (instead of
Valverde). Strasburg is done, so I'll drop him for one of these free agents:

- C Zambrano - PIT, NYM
- Travis Wood - MIL, @Stl
- Mike Minor - NYM, @Fla
- LeBlanc - @Arz, COL
- W Davis - TOR, @Bal

I'm leaning towards Minor, Wood or Zambrano, though Wood just had a rough
outing and has a tough one at STL. Zambrano has good matchups but has been
shaky. Davis has good matchups, too, but worried about his consistency.

Points awarded for W(7), SV(7), K(.5), QA(3), IP(3) and deducted for L(-5), BB(-1), ER(-1), HA(-1)

Which would you take?

I like Sanabia, 1st start home to Wash on Monday, then the Braves on Sunday at home again. Also like Minor, but the Braves will be pushing him back from time to time so you just can't be sure he'll get that 2nd start. Florida has an off day midweek so the chances of Sanabia not making that 2nd start seem less

Gimme Mike Minor all day. If it were me I wouldn't be starting Duensing even with a valuable 2-start week. Those are 2 tough mathups, Texas has been on a big roll and Detroit has scored 5 or more in 8 of their last 9.

I personally would go with Mike Minor, Kuroda and Wade Davis over Duensing. Minor has been flat dominant in what I have watched of him in just the few innings he has pitched and has one of if not the best change up in the NL. Kuroda has been strong and has a nice offense backing him, Philly scares me a bit, but I think both matchups are better then TEX and DET. Davis looked good in his return against the Angels and has 2 pretty good pitching matchups.

If it were me I would dump Strasburg for Minor, keep Kuroda and pick your poison between Davis' return or Duensing's tough matchups.
