Replacing Reyes' speed (WHIR)

Postby Bjorne Greece » Fri Aug 27, 2010 2:40 pm

I'm counting on no longer being able to count on Jose Reyes who has been a big reason for my SB success. He's not actually placed on the DL yet but I'm looking to hedge my bets incase ANYTHING happens from here on out.

For now, without Jose being DL eligible, I'm thinking of dropping Omar Infante for a better base stealer. Available are: Coco Crisp, Rajai Davis, Andres Torres, Will Venable & Eric Young Jr.

leave a link to your post and I'll get back to you

12 team league. Start: 1B, 2B, SS, C, 3B, OF, OF, OF, UTIL, SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P, P, 5 bench spots, 2 DL spots
SP: Verlander, Felix, Price, Latos, Liriano, Hanson, Cain
RP: Wilson, Nunez, Capps
C: Montero
1B: Konerko
2B: Beckham
SS: Tulow, Reyes
3B: Wright, Panda Sandoval
OF: Dunn, Rios, Pierre, Infante, Cruz (DL)
UTIL: Varies depending on team needs and matchups.

I think that Coco Crisp ro Andres Torres will give you the most opportunities and upside.

Venable will hurt your BA. Eric Young is good, but I don't have enough on him to make a judgement.

Sure...Torres will start losing time with SF's crowded OF, but he's be very productive this season.

Still Coco Crisp has made R. Davis forgettable and is getting the vast majority of starts.

If it's just SB's you're interested in then I say Davis.

for steals alone id take crisp--hes stealing at a crazy clip since getting back, his total doesn't look too fantastic but consider that hed have something like 60-70 at this pace over a full season, and i think hes a better hitter than davis in other categories as well. andres torres would be my pick for all-around contributions, hes definitely the guy id take if you weren't specifically after speed.
