1st - Money league with friends. Had 4 of the hitters listed at various point (Cargo, Hamilton, and Votto mostly, which explains why I finished first in all offensive cats). Surprisingly had none of pitchers listed.
1st - Blog Wars with some high profile blog writers. Had 4 of hitters listed (Hamilton, Pagan, Hart, and Stubbs) as well as Wainwright and Price (albeit only about 1/4 of season) on pitching side.
1st - Experts Challenge League (cafe league). Had 4 of hitters at various points (most notably Hart, C.B. Young, and Swisher) as well as Oswalt on the pitching side
2nd - Live Free or Dynasty (cafe league - Congrats Cougs!). Had absolutely nobody from the list, although Davis was in my farm system. Only used him for about 3 games during the season.
2nd - Second year $$ keeper league. Only 2 on the hitting side (Pagan and Stubbs) but 3 of the pitchers listed (Dan Hudson, Kuo, and Clippard).

Seems like I got many of the hitters right, and won all leagues in which I had 4 of them.

Great job at compiling this list Marley. Very helpful and informative. ;-D

Interesting... in a 12 team 5x5, I would expect to have 4 players on the list of most profitable. Instead, I had 6 of these players and won the league. A lot of the other teams in the Top 5 had many of the remaining players on the list.

Players I had:
A Pagan
A Beltre
J Votto
A Rios
C Lewis
A Wainwright
When it comes to exaggerating, I always give 110%.

Thanks for the feedback. Playing around with the numbers a little more...looking at some of the worst values now by '10 MDP minus Final 2010 Rank.

Bats: Must be in the top 120 hitters drafted and 350+ AB's (trying to gauge the values based more on performance than injuries)
SP: Must be in the top 72 drafted starters and logged 92+ IP
RP: Must be in the top 48 drafted relievers and logged 45+ IP

Example: Grienke was the 4th pitcher (SP or RP) taken and ended up ranked 129th among SP/RP's. Ouch.

I think Josh Beckett's implosion is almost the worst, and while he does top this "worst-of" list going from #17 pitcher in the preseason to a #586 final ranking, AJ Burnett gave you 182 IP of almost equal crap while Beckett only hurt you for 128 IP. Then again, Beckett was picked as a early #2 SP for a lot of teams while Burnett was a late #3...maybe they can be co-LVP's:

Greinke ruined me this year. I thought he was ready to take the next step to being a consistently elite pitcher...now I don't know what to think for next year.

My first 5 hitting picks are a who's who of failure:

Howard
Sizemore
Figgins
Chipper
McLouth

Sizemore and McLouth were so bad they didnt even make the above list, probably because they are off the Baseball Monster list entirely.

I still managed to finish 7/16 mostly because of this:

Verlander
Jimenez
K-Rod
Dotel
J Sanchez
Lowe
Gregerson, Romo
Kuroda (FA pickup)

Howard wasn't as bad as some 1st and 2nd rounders, but he certainly didn't produce like you wanted this year. The rest of those guys were indeed bad/injured or both. The reason they weren't on the above list is because it's filtered to exclude anyone with less than 350 AB's. If you take that filter off, you get a lot more guys that were ranked low because they were injured. I filtered it to try and take out some of the injuries because you would have rather have someone like Youk that at least gave you good production out of his 362 AB's and that you could pick up a replacement level guy (or maybe you got lucky with a guy like Chris Johnson) than having to stick with a 3B like Kung Fu Panda and his pitiful line of 61 /13 / 63 / 3 / .268 through 562 AB's all season.

Here's the "worst-of" list without a filter for AB''s. Your last 4 guys were indeed some of the the worst out of the "top" quarter !+) I had a similar problem this year in my only roto league, except it was pitching and not hitting that got me (Haren, Nolasco, Harden & Slowey were my first 4 SP's taken....so pretty much my entire starting staff was as bad as I could have had...4 of 27 SP's from the "worst-of" list)

A player who was hurt for almost the entire season should not be looked upon as a failure. Injuries can happen to any player on any day.
