How do you get into a job like software testing? That sounds like a really great job that I kind of do already just for fun with betas.

Simply by applying or better yet, if you know somebody who can hook you up. It's best to complete QA certification training, but I've known people who have gotten around that and just applied. Thing was, they jumped straight into QA out of college, which is the ideal jumping off point and then again, they went into companies that were more lax about candidates needing QA certification. It's a competitive path and the work isn't always rewarding (a lot of tedious work) but you'll learn a good deal and you have room for growth too.

I'm not sure. I can't imagine the costs are all that different from say, taking a GMAT or LSAT course and paying to take the certification exam.

Try the temp jobs that sound interesting. That way you get to see what you like, gain experience, build your resume.

Nanotechnology is a growing field, maybe you should look into that.

Nanotech also requires extensive research and scientific experience. Not exactly entry-level unless you have a bio or engineering degree and even then, a tough ask to land that gig.
