from an email i received from MLB Insiders on August 19th. They obviously know something that i don't .. its that "inside"
Division rivals clashing as stretch run begins With less than 50 games left in the regular season, the division crowns and Wild Card berths remain up for grabs. The Yankees and Rays -- arguably the Majors' top two teams -- are locked in a dead heat atop the AL East, while the Red Sox have persevered through myriad injuries to stay in the postseason hunt. The NL Central race is also too close to call after the Cardinals picked up three games on the Reds last week with a series sweep in St. Louis. The Braves, the Twins and the Giants are clinging to small leads in their respective divisions, but other contenders are charging hard. It's difficult to remember another season in which so many teams carried legitimate postseason aspirations into late August. Buckle up for a roller coaster of a stretch run.
no effing respect!! grrr

You know who else doesn't repect the the Padres?.... Vegas. Atlanta, Philadelphia, San Fransisco, St. Louis, and Cinncinnati all have beter odds than San Diego to win the NL Pennant. The Padres are listed as 15/1 odds to win the WS. SF is 9/1 odds. The only other team they like less is the Twins 18/1. You should have placed a bet on the Padres before the season when they were 200/1 odds.

If they can hang on to this lead, the Padres are looking at the home field advantage throughout the playoffs, and at 15/1, i'd gamble Petco is Yankee proof.
already looking forward to that thick October air to roll in ...
I like that. The Rangers didn't give up a hit for 8 innings but somehow... through grit, hustle, and general Ecksteininess... they managed to eek out a win anyway.
The Padres matched their 2010 win total with their 75th victory of the season. In ESPN’s 2010 baseball season preview, they ran 100 computer simulations of the season and the Padres won 0 of 100 times, finishing with an average of 72 wins.

fail
To be fair I don't think many if anyone saw this coming. The offense is below average and the bullpen has been great, pretty much like everyone thought. Who would have thought a rotation of Latos, Garland, Richard, LeBlanc and Correia would preform as well as they have? That is also the main reason they are going to be considered underdogs in the playoffs no matter how many regualr season wins they have.
After they hang the pennant(s), i'll become humble. Until then, I am going to enjoy every single minute of it, and I fully plan on putting other peoples nose to poo, whenever possible. This dream could end at any moment ya know.
