Corner Infield Advice Needed - WHIR

Postby bobnerns » Fri Aug 20, 2010 10:42 pm

I'm in a 10-team, 5x5 redraft league. I'm looking to pick up a corner infielder off free agency, but don't know who to go with. Right now, I am starting Miguel Montero at catcher and Victor Martinez at 1B/3B, but I'd like to keep Montero on the bench and VMart at catcher.

The free agency list isn't great, so who of the following should I pick up?

Pedro Alvarez (Pit), Jerry Hairston Jr.(SD), Bill Hall (Bos), Logan Morrison (Fla), Todd Helton (Col), Chris Carter (Oak), Jose Lopez (Sea), Gordon Beckham (CWS), Russell Branyan (Sea), Kila Ka'aihue (KC)

My first thought is Beckham who obviously has big upside and has been decent lately following a horrific first half. Morrison and Hall have also been very good lately.

Leave your link.

I'd go Beckham, followed by Alvarez.

Beckham would be a good pickup for you.

Toss up between hall and alvarez for me... It isn't a keeper, so beckham's upside is a hill of beans at this point... Go with the hottest hand, ride him 'til he slows, whilst keeping an eye on the FA list to see if there's a hotter hand.... Right now, its hall and alverez, and maybe hairston --- hall and hairston also have a tonne of positions if its a yahoo league, so that adds some value.

Thanks for the help on mine.

Honestly you have to think will any of those guys outperform Montero and I don't know if any of them would, so I would stick with Montero and know that you can pick someone up if they are on fire. But if you are wanting who is hottest now, you would probably go with Hall.
