Postby smyoung11 » Fri Aug 20, 2010 2:09 pm

I am running away and hiding with my league right now I have an insane squad but I need to trade my extras to try to package up. I know of a clear 11 of my 13 allowed keepers the others is where I am interested in others opinions, I have some tough calls

1 - Pujols
2 - Mauer
3 - Hamilton
4 - Crawford
5 - Kemp
6 - Utley
7 - Zimmerman
8 - Halladay
9 - J. Johnson
10- Greinke
11- Price

My remaining players to choose from are: 1 - Andrus, 2 - Weiters(you start 2 C's) , 3 - Choo , 4 - Papelbon , 5 - A. Hill - I also have Guerrero, Huff, Soria, Larouche, R. Davis that I will package together in trades to upgrade other guys. Who would the 2 players you guys would Keep of the group??

League starting Roster is C,C,1B,2B,SS,3B,MI,CI,OF,OF,OF,OF,OF,DH(anyone can play) & 9 Pitchers any Combo

Nice squad! I would definitely keep Wieters, in fact I'd take him over David Price from your top 11. He's looked MUCH better at the plate since returning from injury - his July and August stats show the type of hitter he really is. My guess is that he was slowed by injury for much of the first 3 months. I believe that 3 years from now we will all look back and say that Matt Wieters was better than Joe Mauer from 2011-2013.

I would also keep Joakim Soria. He's the best closer in a keeper league for my money in the AL and second only to Jonathan Broxton in all of baseball (again Mo lovers - we're talking keeper league here).

If you can trade Josh Hamilton for "The Kid" you'll be celebrating Strasmas every 5th day on your way to another title in '11!
We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit.

I'd stick with Wieters and Choo here. Choo will be a top 50 player and Wieters is bound to be a top tier catcher in the next few years. He seems to be coming into his own lately, and since Buck Showalter is so good with young players, you know he's going to get better.

Help with mine?

How many teams in your league? 3? I count atleast a half-dozen first rounders on your team; competition can't be too stiff.

I'd probably be picking 2 from weiters, choo, soria, andrus... Choo and soria seem most sensible, but if you start 2 catchers, a solid case can be made for wieters... Actually, with the all-star OF you already have, I'd say maybe soria and wieters makes most sense for you.....so you'll have atleast 1 good closer going into next year. Not that it matters much; looks like you have things pretty well locked down for years to come.
