If conditions are right, football can be played in the snow. It helps if there's undersoil heating underneath the turf.

Also, the US have to play their World Cup qualifier as scheduled, as there's not much room to maneuver with most leagues are still in season. Some clubs and leagues can be a bunch of nancies if they postpone their matches and the conditions aren't relatively bad.
