Trade offered to me (Hanley and Werth involved) WHIR!

Postby hecrey91 » Sat Aug 14, 2010 6:35 pm

I was offered Josh Johnson and Jose Reyes for Hanley Ramirez and Jayson Werth. Am I giving up too much in the power section or does the acquisition of another ace to go with Lester strengthen my team? Should I ask for more in return? The other manager also has Cliff Lee, Roy Halladay, Colby Lewis, Zach Greinke, and Tommy Hanson.

My team right now:
C- Mike Napoli
1B- Adrian Gonzalez
2B- Omar Infante
3B- Ryan Zimmerman
SS- Hanley Ramirez
OF- Jayson Werth
OF- Ryan Braun
OF- Angel Pagan
Util- Derek Jeter
Util- A-Rod
BN- Brett Gardner
BN- Luke Scott
DL- Martin Prado

P-Jonathan Broxton
P-Ryan Franklin
P-Heath Bell
P-Jon Lester
P-Yovanni Gallardo
P-Shawn Marcum
P-Justin Verlander
P- Jair Jurrjens
P- Johnny Cueto
P-Jeremy Hillikson
DL- Andrew Bailey

Thank you, WHIR

Let's hear your league settings. H2H or roto? 5x5, or something else? It makes a difference. On balance, I'd say this is too much. Your pitching staff is fine, and having a power-heavy offense never hurt anyone come playoff time. (Assuming you're in a H2H league.)

Completely forgot to add that. 5x5 H2H standard settings. 8 person league.
Thanks for the advice. I felt like it was too much as well. I like Johnson and am a fan of Reyes but with it being a contract year for Werth, theres a decent chance he might explode in September.

You don't need help in your rotation. Hellboy is gonna be a stud next year. And although I don't like Werth all that much you'd be selling low on him. Hanley hasn't played up to his abilities this year either.

Don't do it unless you get a bigger bat somewhere.

Is this a keeper or no? If not, I guess I could see considering this, maybe with some tinkering... Reyes might be close-ish to hanley the rest of the way (or maybe not), and adding johnson to the staff would be nice. In a keeper, its a certain reject.

How many teams in your league? I see several first rounders on your roster in a normal sized league...

In a Keeper, this isnt even worth discussing. If its a non-keeper, I still think its a no, simply becaause your PS is already good, and you dont need to trade away good bats just to upgrade an already good rotation.
