Lincecum or Kemp

Postby Phillip » Fri Aug 13, 2010 9:05 pm

10 team keeper where we keep 10 regardless of round. I was thinking of making this offer, but wasn't sure whether I should. Currently in the playoffs, so playing for this year, but always looking at improving too. It is a weekly league where I typically start 6-7 starting pitchers and we start 5 OF and 1 Util (which is usually a 1B for me). I was thinking of offering Lincecum to get Kemp, but wasn't sure (obviously either would be keepers for me next year). Do you think (1) Lincecum or Kemp is better long term and (2) that I have enough pitching for this year that giving up Lincecum won't hurt me.

OF (start 5) currently:
J.Upton
A.Dunn (loses OF next year)
A.McCutchen
JDDrew
Lind
Snider

SP (start 6-7 per week) currently:
Lincecum (is it too much to lose him for this league - W, K, SV, Holds, ERA, WHIP)
FelixHernandez
Verlander
Nolasco
Lilly
Garza
Shields
DeLaRosa
Zambrano

Hmm.... I think its probably closer then those above me. Guess maybe lincy fits your needs a bit better? Value-wise, and without a relatively poor season, I'd be inclined to go with kemp. I think he gets drafted ahead of lincy in most leagues....

Lincecum does fit your needs better and Kemp in my opinion is having a down year. Keep in mind that the Dodgers also have a very tough second half schedule. I wouldn't do this deal.

OF is so deep you dont need to get that position. If i was going to trade linceum it would be for a strong player at a weak position (ie. ss or 3b)

Were it not for your needs in the playoffs this year I'd for sure go with Kemp here. I think it's the better play longterm but unfortunately it could cost you in your playoffs. Things have to be very discouraging in LA right now so you may not get as much playoff value from Kemp. I see Kemp recovering well once the Manny / Torre / Lineup Slot issues are hopefully resolved this winter.

Yeah, all else being equal I'd go for Kemp, but for your specific situation I think you have to go for Timmy.

at the end of the day, OF is a deep position and you will regret doing this trade

there aren't many lincecums, plus is so young
