Braun trade, quick question WHIR 100%

Postby Hit Factory » Thu Aug 12, 2010 4:16 pm

I want to deal Braun, he is one of my three keepers for next season and once Fielder leaves he will have no protection in the lineup. The problem is that there are only a few players I value higher than him. Here is my question, would you trade Braun for:

-Texeira
-Fielder
-Adrian Gonzalez

If there are other players who you think I should trade Braun for please let me know.

Tough question. Depending on league settings and the needs of my team, I'd consider dealing Braun for Hanley or Utley, but that's about it. Longoria would be in the discussion as well. This is a keeper league, so not A-Rod. That's about all I can think of. I'd think twice before dealing Braun right now, though, since he's having a bit of a down year and he's so incredibly talented.

I could possibly see AGonz...especially if he leaves Petco Park. Fielder and Tex don't contribue enough in Ave and SB's to make up for what Braun does in them...and Braun's power numbers can be similar to both Tex and Fielder eventually.

I'd do a Braun for AGonz and something but even than it'd be tough. it'd be a fair trade (depending on the other piece) but it's always ahrd to give up the best player in a trade. Especially w/Brauns upside.

I wouldn't trade him for any of the guys on your list, atleast not with something else useful coming back... Better to keep an OF the a firstbasemen anyways. As the others have mentioned, there are only a few guys worth more then him keeper-wise.....hanley, utley, pujols...maybe cabrera, but thats probably where I'd draw the line.

I'd consider very few players as possible upgrades on Braun. Pujols Cabrera Longoria and Hanley, possibly Crawford if your other 2 keeps are big power bats, and would really need something else added to consider Utley or Cano.

I wouldnt deal him for Tex or Fielder. I might be convinced to do him for A-Gonz, but that is still a tough call. The only guys Id do for sure would be Hanley and Cabrera. Otherwise, the upside of Braun would likely make me keep him.

I have to agree with the rest of the replies. I have Braun as well, and he has been a bit frustrating, but I couldn't see giving him up for the three guys you list. I think he will still be extremely valuable going forward due to his talent, youth, and position (a quick judgement without knowing the league). I would probably entertain offers for Longoria, Cabrera, Pujols, Hanley or Utley. My top target would be Longo, probably, because I think you could realistically get him for the value of Braun without having to throw in a number of other things.

Help with mine?
