I have been working tirelessly to fill the large gap at 3B that had been plaguing my team over the past 2-3 years. I felt that with Holliday, Werth, Dunn, Stubbs, Nyjer, Hicks, and Westmoreland, my team possessed the organizational depth to take a short-term hit in order to drastically improve at a much-needed position.

Mitch Moreland (Waiver pickup this season)
3rd round pick (out of 3 total rounds, already had 4 picks with 3 open roster spots so I felt this pick was expendable)

The way I look at this trade is:
Weaver > Johan
Young = Werth (at worst, when considering organizational depth and positional needs)
Anibal = Mazzaro (wash at this point)
Freeman > Moreland/3rd round pick

The big unknown in this deal is Freeman, as well as another wild card in Anibal. When considering my place in the standings (7th) and the amount of injuries on my roster (7 as of 8/12), I decided that it might be best to look to the future just in case I come up short this season.

In the meantime, I am working on a deal involving Holliday and Young to land Longoria. A long shot, I am sure...but its worth a shot =)
