Weaver/Bumgarner for Kemp? WHIR

Postby panjam » Tue Aug 10, 2010 7:10 pm

10 team keeper, keep 8.

I trade Weaver and Bumgarner for Matt Kemp

My current keepers: Mauer, Votto, Pedroia, Wright, Jeter, Jiminez, Latos, Weaver

I'm weak in the OF, but would like to keep 3 pitchers. Should I make this trade, giving me 6 batters as keepers and only 2 pitchers? Would it help me win this year (currently in third) or help me more in the future.

Rest of roster for reference: B.J. Upton, Markakis, Adam Jones, Bautista, Shields, Buckholz, Morrow, Nolasco.

I could also counter for Justin Upton as well. Who would you rather have on your keeper team, Upton or Kemp? Upton's younger, but Kemp is a potential 30/30 guy. Just wondering.

I would definitely take the deal. Kemp is a much better keeper than Weaver and you can always find pitching in drafts, but talents like Kemp (or Upton) are much more difficult to find. In regards to Kemp vs. Upton it is really a matter of beauty being in the eye of the beholder. I tend to think Upton will be the better and that Kemp has already peaked and will see his SB attempts come down b/c of the caught stealing, but if he made the offer with Kemp I would take it b/c there is no guarantee that he wouldn't be offended with an offer for Upton if he thinks he is that much better than Kemp. So I would take what you can get and take Kemp

I agree. Kemp makes a much better keeper IMO. Just an off year for him I think and he'll bounce back next year. The guy just has too much talent not to. There aren't too many guys who have 30/30 talent and he's one of them.
