Pick up Ellsbury? WHIR

Postby Bjorne Greece » Sun Aug 08, 2010 10:35 am

He's a free agent at the moment. The only hesitation I have in picking him up is that I don't know if that injury will let him play at full speed like he always does. His primary value would be stolen bases (and BA).

If anyone does recommend picking him up - who to drop - Pierre or Pence? I'm torn. IF (and I mean IF) Ellsbury was a sure thing to have his usual SB production then I'd drop Pierre. But if not then I'd probably prefer to drop Pence and take the chance that Pierre and Ellsbury go crazy with the steals.

Pierre is a terrible player who's been killing owners' BA all season long. I'd go with Ellsbury -- he hasn't gotten a hit since his return, but he hasn't K'ed, either, so his skills are still there. It's just a matter of time before he returns to hitting .290 and swiping bags.

You have Reyes, Pierre, Cruz and Rios. I think your pretty safe in SB, however I like Ellsbury and he could potentially steal as many bases as some of the guys you have collected so far for the rest of the year. Grab him up.

Ellsbury must be picked up. Just have him ride the pine until he gets into a rhythm.
