I have a few bad eggs on my pitching staff and they have been good recent seasons but this year they cannot keep it going. Should I drop any of my pitching staff for anyone on the WW?
My pitching staff: -Chris Carpenter (not drop worthy, of course) -Zack Greinke( nope) -Javier Vazquez(one of the bad eggs, I think he has like two QS this year) -John Lackey(maybe has had 3) - Max Scherzer (see, i don't know if he is drop worthy or not) -Wandy Rodriguez (he is pitching as good as he once was) -Brian Fuentes (we have very shallow closer pool) -Chris Perez -Huston Street -Andrew Bailey (DL) -Ryan Madson (guy I picked up today to drop my 4+ ERA, but I'll drop him for Bailey when Bailey comes off the DL)
Currently I am trying to trade a closer for some batting help because I had Youk and Ryan Howard
Some of the most owned pitchers: AJ Burnett (really dont wanna touch him), Scott Baker, Mark Buehrle, Jorge de la Rosa, Wade Davis, Dice-K, Madison Bumgarner, Kevin Slowey, Rich Harden, JA Happ, Edwin Jackson, Mike Leake, Livan Hernandez, Scott Kazmir, Fausto Carmona, Edison Volquez
Its non-keeper but my hitters are at the top or near the top and the pitchers are whats bringing me down...
Id certainly drop Wandy for Bumgarner. Id also drop Scherzer for Leake. TBH, Id even drop Vazquez for Volquez if you wanna get risky. Definately do the first two though.
I'd rather have Baker than Lackey or Vazquez, but that may just be me. He's traditionally a 2nd half pitcher and his last start may jump start him to a solid last 2 months.
I would def drop Javy and Lackey. Pick up Scott Baker ASAP. Like someone else said, Volquez is a high risk - high reward at this point. He has struggled but has the stuff to be great. Baker is the only one I'd pick up for sure. I like Bumgarner too though.
I'd drop Lackey/Vazquez for Baker and one of dLR or Volquez. Keep an eye on both of their next starts. Definitely stay away from Leake and don't drop Wandy. Not sure what that first guy was smoking.
I would drop Lackey first. Vazquez has been a bit better lately - about 5 QS in the last ten, and no absolute disasters, but if you want rid then fine. Baker is probably the best option, Volquez is good if you want to gamble. Also, I will probably get slated for this, but Dice-K might be worth a look (7QS in 10, other three were pretty close, and he did OK in 2007 and 2008 - not the best if WHIP is an issue).
