there is a chain of gigantic rest stops just outside houston called Buckees.
they are on the major interstates on the way to san antonio, dallas, and victoria
they are huge..like little towns. homemade jerky, ice cream, fudge, tacos, sandwiches, candies, roasted and chocolate nuts...and every candy/type of drink imaginable. tons of shirts, hats, cowboy stuff, figurines, toys...a fantastic way to blow some money in a hurry
its freaking awesome. i stopped there last weekend on my way back form san antonio, and will stop again this sun on my way back from dallas. definately the best place for 'Noms'? im guessing that means some sort of junk food(please english only at the table guys)

Ah, the Kogi BBQ truck. I've tried it a few times and their short rib tacos are nice.
I'm not really into the revived food truck scene in the SoCal area, but I've also caught the buttermilk truck (breakfast) and the fry smith truck (all kinds of fries) and they also have some terrific food. This site comes in handy too, to follow the trucks.
Thanks for the link. Unfortunately I don't live near west LA where it seems most of these trucks frequent. Kogi truck can be found 5 miles from my house.

Ah, I assumed that's an upscale California burger which just so happens to be made in a local joint in Michigan.
Father's Office makes arguably the best burger in the L.A. area. It is burger town and it has stiff competition, but amongst the class of upscale burgers, it's still the best in the area.
