Braun/Valverde for Ethier/Cain WHIR always!!

Postby Jenken » Thu Aug 05, 2010 6:48 pm

Just got offered this deal, where Id be giving up the Braun side and getting the Cain side.

Strongly considering doing this, due to my dire need for SP, plus id get back a very good replacement in Ethier. My O is maxed rigt now, so i can afford the loss of the underachieving Braun. Thoughts?

My Roster:
C-Soto,Wiethers
1B-Loney,Ortiz
2B-Weeks
3B-Zimmerman,Young
SS-Andrus,Bartlett
OF-Braun,Werth, CarGo, Brown,Coghlan (DL)

SP-JJ,Hughes,Niemann,Cahill,Myers,Hunter
RP-Valverde,Gregg,STreet

Standard 6x6, 12 team roto

Leave a link and ill get back to you. THanks

It's pretty close, but I like this deal for you. Like you said, your pitching rotation needs a boost and Cain can come in and definitely provide that. Losing Braun for Ethier isn't too bad, and Valverde is only an above average closer. So I say pull the trigger. Good luck

Help with mine please? Thanks.

I like starters more than relievers and Cain can definitely bolster your rotation. Braun's not having the year one would expect, so his name is probably worth more than his production right now. I like the deal (and Braun was my fifth-overall pick).

Thanks for the help.

I think Cain would slot in nicely with your rotation, so I tend to agree with the other guys, though I think Braun will probably come back strong next year (but I'm assuming this isn't a keeper).

I would make this move, Cain is nasty and the Giants are playing like the 1927 Yankees. The dropoff from Braun to Ethier isn't too bad this year either, make it happen.

thanks for the help on mine. I'll say that i'd probably do it. Only considering because its not a keeper. Braun has been disappointing this year, but is still better than ethier if im not mistaken. On top of that, Ethier's overall numbers look alot better due to his hot start, since his injury he isnt hitting many HR. Other than that i dont see why your rotation should NEED cain. I completely understand wanting another good starter but your rotation is filled with guys who are doing very well this year.

With all that said, again ill say to do it. Basically it comes down to me not caring too much about saves, and believing you can probably find saves later if you need it, either via a trade with a non-contender, or via the WW after an injury. Cain is a huge upgrade over valverde, and although i think Braun is going to finish out the season better than ethier their avg, runs and rbi should be similar from here on out, meaning you arent going to lose too many categories, probably just HR and SB.

Good luck

I agree with the above posters.

Your staff gets a giant upgrade (get it he plays for the Giants) while the drop off from Braun to Ethier is not that much. Even though Braun has showed life the past week I say pull the trigger!
