SP Matt Garza (378 pts - 92 of which came from the no-hitter) -----OR -------- SP Cole Hamels (297 points)
+++I have to drop either Fernando Rodney (222) or Brandon Lyon (219)
I recieve:

Two Players to be kept out of: SP- Cole Hamels SP- Matt Garza OF- Nelson Cruz SP- Jeff Neimann OF- Corey Hart
Potential Keepers Post-Trade: ---------------------------------------------------------- 1) 1B- Albert Pujols 2) 2B- Chase Utley 3) SS- Hanley Ramirez 4) 3B- David Wright 5) SP- Jon Lester 6) SP- Johan Santana 7) ? 8) ?
Two Players to be kept out of: SP- Cole Hamels OR Matt Garza OF- Nelson Cruz RP- Jonathan Papelbon SP- Jeff Neimann OF- Corey Hart
PRE-TRADE: It's looking like I will be keeping 2 of the 3 (SP- Hamels, Garza & OF Cruz) for my #7 and #8 keeper spots.
POST-TRADE: The trade pretty much makes the decision for me as far as Hamels or Garza, and then Cruz would likely finish out my keepers. (But Neimann, Papelbon, and Hart could be considered).
I'm looking to make a push to win a very elusive title that I've yet to win in this league (and it's about time to get the monkey off my back b/c I've had the best regular season team 4 years in a row).
1.) So, do I make the trade? Will adding Papelbon and Pettite make my team better down the stretch...
2.) Who will help me the most this year, and who is the better keeper between Hamels and Garza?
3.) AND, if I do the deal, should I drop Rodney or Lyon?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Leave a link, and I'll get back with you now. Thanks

First of all, I ABSOLUTELY would keep Nelson Cruz. No doubt about that one.
Secondly, how many points do middle relievers typically get? I have no clue.
I would think that Andy Pettite will be pretty good when he gets back from the DL. Broxton is struggling lately, but should find his way soon. I would go ahead with this trade. I'd probably trade away Garza over Hamels.
As for keepers after the trade, I'd go Cruz/Broxton. But then again, I'm not exactly sure how valuable closers are in your league. But Broxton is definitely one of the best whereas Garza and Hamels are good-not-great starters.

*We count holds in our league, so the middle relievers are somewhat valuable: Fernando Rodney (222 points) or Brandon Lyon (219 points)
*It's a H2H points league, and closers score pretty well (RP Jonathan Papelbon - 341pts vs. my SPs Matt Garza (378 pts - 92 of which came from the no-hitter) & SP Cole Hamels (297 points)
*Broxton isn't even in the deal? I'm assuming you're refering to Papelbon?
I would say Hamels is the better keeper of the two. I would do this deal if you want to win it NOW. But deal Garza then keep Hamels and Cruz. Or maybe even Papelbon.
I assume Petite will still do good once off the DL and you won't be keeping him anyways and this will help you win NOW.
I would do the trade with Hamels and drop Lyon (biased Tiger fan though). I think Garza has more upside than Hamels. I would def. keep Cruz and Garza them.
Hey man, thanks for the help with mine. Pettitte is not a significant upgrade from Garza or Hamels. He is better, but not by a large margin. If you are going to trade for a closer I would deal Hamels, but get someone other than Papelbon. This guy is overrated and honestly not that great.
Thanks for the help on mine. I think id do it and drop Lyon. I wouldnt drop rodney, because Fuentes might get dealt which would likely move rodney into the closers role where he can rack up some more points for you.

Thanks. In the deal, should I give up Garza or Hamels?

This. I'd roll with the trade (personally, I'd deal Garza, but it's close) and drop Lyon. I believe Pettitte will outperform Garza down the stretch, and you'd be getting Paps on top of it. Just my thoughts, but if it were me, I'd go for it.
