I'm trying to assess if this phenomenon is limited to my league. Here are the available players in free agency, sorted by most stolen bases in 2010 (with batting average included):
Juan Pierre - 40 .265
Rajai Davis - 32 .276
Nyjer Morgan - 29 .261
Corey Patterson - 18 .273
Will Venable - 18 .230
Drew Stubbs - 18 .228
Cliff Pennington - 17 .258
Ryan Theriot - 16 .277
Tony Gwynn - 16 .215
Franklin Gutiérrez - 15 .244
I find it hard to believe, at a conceptual level, that the league leader in steals isn't owned, especially with a somewhat respectable .265 average. I'm not asking whether or not I should pick him up, we're not on the right board for that. My question is: is anyone else in a 12-team, redraft, H2H league where there are this many SBs in free agency?
I'm struggling to find my strategy because I'm typically a roto guy. Yahoo rankings currently have Pierre at 111 for this season. Does that hold equal weight between roto and H2H leagues? Do you agree that Pierre has performed better this season than Josh Willingham (next on the available player list by Rank) who has 15 HRs and batted .269?
