Prop 8 Ruled Unconstitutional

We haven't had a good ol' fashion gay marriage discussion here in a while...

Proposition 8 fails to advance any rational basis in singling out gay men and lesbians for denial of a marriage license. Indeed the evidence shows Proposition 8 does nothing more than enshrine in the California constitution the notion that opposite sex couples are superior to same sex couples.

I doubt a stay is granted, but this is almost certain to go up. Good news, though, for those of us who support equal marriage rights for everyone.

We already let them hold hands, why must they always push the envelope?!?! Why can't they just sit at the back of the bus and be quiet? Why can't they just use their own drinking fountains and stop causing all us regular folk trouble?

I just can't abide them gays. Once I accidentally brushed up against a gay. I went to my doctor straightaway and got checked out, and thank goodness I didn't catch it. But what if it had been a child? When will we think of the children, and the message this sends?

The people who vote for this kind of thing are naive sheep.

Just another situation in which we use democracy and vote in order to make a decision, only to have the Government (and more recently Judges) turn around and slap the average American in the face and say we're wrong.

I'm glad we were able to slap Obama back when we passed Prop C yesterday in Missouri.

EDIT: Although, Prop C will probably be reversed by a Judge in a few weeks.

i just wrote and erased two seperate posts about my support of gay marriage and what I think of people that oppose it.

I chose not to post these, because I felt it would not help pump life into my friendliness meter.

That, quite literally, is what Prop 8 was about: "only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California." Of course, the Proposition pertained only to California, but this ruling (if it stands) could set national precedence.

I think he lives in Missouri, but I was assuming he was using the royal "we" there, or by "we" he meant "they," or something.

I also find it amusing that people generally only get upset over "activist judges" when the judges' rulings go against what they would like to have seen happen. People who will decry the "activist judges" in this case wouldn't have a problem with it at all if the shoe were on the other foot, and people who are happy about this ruling would pitch a fit if a judge ruled against 'the will of the people' to ban gay marriage.
