Pick the Best SP - WHIR!

Postby Oatsdad » Mon Aug 02, 2010 9:53 am

Just traded Josh Johnson straight up for Joey Votto - not sure who won that deal, but I need offense more than pitching right now, so I thought it was a good idea.

Gonna drop a superfluous offensive player when the trade clears and grab a FA SP. Here're the best options:

Marcum, Shawn
Wilson, CJ
Wells, Randy
Cueto, Johnny
Bumgarner, Madison

I'm strongly leaning toward Marcum - thoughts?

I'd go Marcum or CJ. I prefer Marcum myself, but you can't deny that CJ has a great lineup backing him up, and his numbers have been roster-worthy. I'm surprised neither one of them is on a roster already. Can't go wrong with either.
(In reference to an Aaron Hill for David Price swap)

Both CJ and Marcum have done well all year for me but I tell you it seems to me that CJ is picking up steam. I think Marcum may have peaked. I would go with CJ for my money.

So there's one vote for Marcum, one vote for CJ - any other thoughts?

for me, its Marcum hands down. I watch this guy every fifth day, and man, when he is on, he is lights out.

I agree that the two best options appear to be Marcum and CJ, but it really depends on the stats you value the most. I think Marcum will be better in every category other than Wins because of his team. I would be confident in either but leaning towards Marcum for me:
